The Hays Room is best for accommodating families with small children (but not under about six years old), and couples who prefer it's rustic Texas-style decor and private entrance to the Victorian decor and interior entrances of the Rooms in our Main Inn Building.

It's named for Jack Coffee Hays, the Texas Ranger Commander chosen by Prince Karl Solms to lead a wagon train carrying 700 German immigrants from the Gulf Coast to what is now New Braunfels.

The Hays Room is located next to the Main Inn Building, in an adjacent building called the Feed Store, and fronts on the Courtyard of the Uptown Piano Bar (caveat: Not for "light/early sleepers" or those seeking "peace and quiet"; Bar patrons may sit within 10 feet of the Room's front door during Bar hours). The room has a queen size bed, full private bath with tub/shower, wide/flat screen cable TV, coffee maker, and small refrigerator. It has a "crawling loft" (four feet from ceiling) with two double beds perfect for children -- or anyone who doesn't mind climbing and sleeping up there -- that is accessed by a permanent ladder.

Sleeps up to six. Current rate: $150, plus tax, for double occupancy. Additional guests charged at $20 extra, per person, per night.
